Midwest SOARRING Foundation is pleased to announce our 2024 Janet Standing Bear Scholarship for all Native American students pursuing advanced degrees and trades in undergraduate or graduate education in any field. While tribal enrollment is not required, we are interested in applicants who can demonstrate their positive involvement in their community with Native American cultural activities and/or advancing Indigenous concerns.

Midwest SOARRING Foundation assists in repatriation, protection of sacred sites, environmental issues, and educating the public about Native American culture, important to our history and identity. The scholarship amount is $1,000. The final decision to award the scholarship is at the discretion of the Midwest SOARRING Scholarship Committee.

Interested applicants must fill out the Scholarship form, obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor, employer, or community service director; submit a 500 word essay as detailed on the application form along with a recent copy of their school transcripts. Scholarship applications must be postmarked by September 30, 2024. The scholarships will be awarded at the Harvest Pow Wow, held at DuPage County Fairgrounds, Wheaton, IL., Saturday, October 12, 2024. It is preferable that scholarship applicants be present at the Pow Wow, but not required. Scholarship applicants will be notified the first week of October.
